1 / 1This 1-bedroom condo covers 57 m² on the third floor of Building 3 at The Hills Residence, in Simpson Bay on the Dutch side of Sint Maarten. Rates start from 175 USD per night. It sleeps two guests, and its balcony faces Simpson Bay lagoon.
The bedroom is closed off from the living space, so nights stay quiet. A king-size bed takes up the room, and there is a closet with hangers and blackout curtains to keep the morning light out.
A sofa and a flat-screen TV furnish the living room, which also has a dining table big enough for shared meals. From here you step out onto the balcony, where the outdoor furniture lets you sit and look across Simpson Bay lagoon. Late afternoon is the nicest time to be out there.
Cooking at home is simple. A hob sits under the extractor hood, and the room also holds a dishwasher, a refrigerator, an oven and a microwave. There is also a blender next to the toaster, kettle and espresso machine, while the cupboards hold crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and glassware, wine and champagne glasses included.
If you stay for several weeks, the washer-dryer combo, the air conditioning and the fast Wi-Fi connection help with daily life. Beach towels and bath towels are provided along with bed linen, and you will also find bathroom essentials, a hair dryer, and an iron with its ironing board.
Families travelling with a young child can ask for the baby cot and the high chair. Entry is by electronic lock. The condo is fitted with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Up on the roof of the residence, a swimming pool looks out over the lagoon, with sun loungers set around it. It opens daily between 8 am and 8 pm. The residence also has a common jacuzzi and a lobby.
Each building is served by an elevator, private parking is provided, and outdoor cameras monitor the shared areas. Before you arrive, the concierge team can arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, excursions or a boat trip around the island, so it is worth getting in touch with them early.
Simpson Bay is a busy part of the Dutch side, with restaurants, bars, shops and marinas nearby. Simpson Bay beach and Maho beach can be reached with a short drive. Princess Juliana International Airport is also just minutes away by car.
The residence sits on a hill, so a rental car is the easiest way to handle everyday errands. It also lets you explore the island at your own pace, from Philipsburg over to Marigot and on to the beaches of the French side.
Check-in starts at 4 pm, and the condo should be vacated by 11 am on departure day. With a limit of two guests, the layout suits a couple. Staff from The Hills Residence are on site if anything comes up while you are here.
Guests staying longer can book an intermediate housekeeping visit, and extra towels can be provided on request. Between the full kitchen and the washer-dryer, you can keep your usual routine during a long stay.
